Diversity is often treated as an inclusion issue. EIRA Gathering 2026 approaches it as a condition for Social Impact in Health.
If impact is to improve real lives, it must recognise the differences that shape dignity, evidence, care, creativity, institutions and human experience.
Diversity is not only about who is present. It changes what we are able to see, value, care for and transform.

THE JOURNEY
How the journey began
The journey towards EIRA Gathering 2026 began before the public Gathering date.
On 1 December 2025, the Curators were invited to start reflecting on the annual reality that would shape the next cycle of EIRA: diversity as a fundamental condition of Social Impact in Health.
From that first call, the 2026 Gathering began to take form as a curatorial journey: a process of listening, judgement, selection and preparation that would bring three Laureate perspectives into a shared public conversation.

Curators 2026
The Curators of EIRA Gathering 2026 helped shape the annual reality, reflect on possible Laureate perspectives and protect the quality of recognition behind the Gathering.
Their role is not to act as a jury or scoring committee. Curators bring trust, judgement and continuity to the process, helping EIRA recognise work that can illuminate a meaningful reality in Social Impact in Health.

Selection Dinner
The Curators Selection Dinner 2026
In April 2026, the Curators gathered for the first visible Curators Selection Dinner: an intimate evening of conversation, judgement and recognition around the annual reality of diversity.
Supported by Alkimia and Recaredo, the dinner created the conditions for a memorable and rigorous conversation: the right people, the right setting and the time needed to reflect deeply on which perspectives should shape EIRA Gathering 2026.
For the first time, part of the journey behind the recognition becomes visible: the atmosphere, conversations and collective judgement that helped bring the 2026 Laureates into focus.

The 2026 Laureates bring three distinct perspectives on diversity as a fundamental condition of Social Impact in Health.
Each conversation opens a different question: how we recognise talent, how we design health knowledge and care, and how institutions respond to diverse realities.

Recognition reason
EIRA recognises José María Batalla / La Casa de Carlota for showing how neurodiversity can become creative, cultural, economic and human value, reframing difference not as a limitation, but as a source of dignity, talent and social contribution.
What the conversation opens
A conversation about neurodiversity, dignity, creativity, non-standard forms of talent and the transformation of systems that define excellence too narrowly.

Sex and gender bias in health
Recognition reason
EIRA recognises Dr Teresa Pont for making sex, gender and invisible bias visible as essential design criteria for research, medical education, clinical practice and responsible innovation in health.
What the conversation opens
A conversation about how health systems, research, education and care must recognise differences that have too often been under-measured, under-taught or under-addressed.

Recognition reason
EIRA recognises Dr Manel del Castillo / CAIROS for showing how health institutions can transform responsibly in response to diverse realities, preserving purpose while redesigning systems around human complexity.

A conversation about institutional purpose, continuity, care and transformation when diversity is not treated as an exception but as a reality that institutions must learn to serve.

The Gathering Stage
From 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the stage becomes the shared moment where the annual reality of diversity is opened, embodied through Laureate conversations and carried into collective reflection.
Opening the year of diversity
The Gathering opens with an invitation to look at diversity not as a theme, but as a condition for Social Impact in Health - a question that changes how we understand dignity, evidence, care, talent and institutions.
Connecting past and present
Former Curators and Laureates connect the history of Trifermed Awards with the new EIRA Gathering model, showing how ten years of recognition have helped shape the movement now entering a new cycle.
Three Laureate conversations
The three Laureate conversations bring diversity into concrete human, scientific, creative and institutional perspectives.
Shared reflection
A shared reflection, led by Montse, connects the three Laureate conversations and asks what each of us can carry into our own organisations, institutions and everyday decisions.
A moment of continuity and gratitude
The evening includes a moment of gratitude and continuity, recognising the people who have helped carry this history forward and opening the next stage of EIRA.
The evening will include a moment of gratitude to Joan Comella for his contribution to the history and continuity of this community.
From stage to community activation
The stage does not close the Gathering. It opens the community activation that continues through the Closing Gathering Cocktail and the publications, white paper and knowledge materials that will follow.

What is next?
The Closing Gathering Cocktail is not only the end of the evening. It is the first moment of community activation.
After listening to the Curators, Laureates and shared reflection, the community is invited to continue the conversation: what did we hear, what has changed in the way we see diversity, and what can each of us activate in our own context?
EIRA Gathering 2026 will continue beyond the stage through published conversations, a white paper, further knowledge materials and community use of the questions opened during the evening.
